eCoC fundamentals

What is an eCoC?

An eCoC is an electronic Certificate of Conformity used to support digital vehicle conformity workflows. For manufacturers, the important challenge is not only creating a certificate file, but preparing structured vehicle information, approval references and release-ready data in a controlled operational process. Review the COC document context.

Is Electronic COC a consumer-facing CoC ordering service?

No. Electronic COC is designed for manufacturers, homologation teams and compliance teams that manage repeatable eCoC preparation workflows. It is not a vehicle-owner CoC ordering portal.

Does Electronic COC issue regulatory approvals?

No. Electronic COC does not issue type approvals or replace approval authorities. The platform supports operational preparation, review, validation and signing-readiness workflows around eCoC processes.

IVI 2.0 and XML readiness

Does Electronic COC support IVI 2.0 workflows?

Yes. Electronic COC is structured around IVI 2.0-ready operational workflows. It helps teams prepare vehicle data, approval references and XML-related readiness activities before release and delivery preparation. Explore IVI 2.0 preparation.

Do users need to be XML specialists?

No. The platform is designed for operational and homologation users, while still supporting XML-related preparation and validation workflows. Technical teams can remain involved where needed, but everyday users should not need to work directly inside XML structures.

Is Electronic COC only an XML validator?

No. XML validation is only one part of the process. Electronic COC supports a broader operational lifecycle that includes data preparation, completeness review, signing readiness, delivery preparation and record visibility. Review XML validation readiness.

Validation, signing and release preparation

What does validation mean inside Electronic COC?

Validation means reviewing operational completeness, identifying missing or inconsistent information and improving readiness before XML generation, signing or delivery preparation. It should not be understood as a guarantee of regulatory acceptance.

Does Electronic COC provide eIDAS certificates or qualified electronic seals?

Electronic COC may support operational workflows related to signing readiness and eQSeal services where available, but it is not a regulatory authority. Certificate ownership, signing authority and legal responsibility remain with the manufacturer or authorized party. See qualified electronic seal coordination.

Can multiple teams review the same workflow?

Yes. Electronic COC is designed to support coordination between homologation, compliance, technical and operational stakeholders so that preparation activities are more visible before release. Review signing workflow preparation.

EUCARIS and NAP preparation

Is Electronic COC a NAP operator?

No. Electronic COC is not a NAP operator or governmental infrastructure provider. The platform supports operational preparation workflows connected to EUCARIS and NAP-related delivery activities. Explore EUCARIS / NAP preparation.

Does the platform replace EUCARIS?

No. Electronic COC does not replace EUCARIS. It helps manufacturers prepare, review and structure operational eCoC data before downstream delivery-related activities.

What does delivery readiness mean?

Delivery readiness means that vehicle information, approval references, validation activities and signing-related preparation have been reviewed before delivery-related workflows begin.

VECTO and data reuse

Can VECTO files be imported?

Yes. Electronic COC can support workflows using existing VECTO XML and PDF information. The goal is to reuse vehicle data that manufacturers already have instead of entering the same information manually again. Review VECTO import workflows.

Is VECTO import the same for every manufacturer?

No. VECTO structures can differ between manufacturers. Electronic COC can support manufacturer-specific mapping logic so imported information aligns with the organization’s eCoC preparation workflow.

Does imported information still need review?

Yes. Imported information should still be reviewed before release, signing or delivery preparation. Importing data can reduce manual effort, but responsibility for accuracy remains with the manufacturer.

Implementation and scope

Can we start with a limited scope?

Yes. Manufacturers can begin with selected vehicle categories, workflows or operational teams and expand gradually. This approach helps reduce rollout complexity. Review implementation scope.

Does every implementation require ERP or API integration?

No. Integration scope depends on the manufacturer’s operational requirements. Some organizations may start with manual or structured record workflows before adding ERP or API-connected processes.

Is Electronic COC suitable for smaller manufacturers?

Yes. The platform can support both smaller and larger manufacturer environments. The implementation scope should be aligned with production volume, workflow complexity and internal resources. Discuss your workflow.
