ERP and API integration

Connect ERP data with your eCoC workflow

Your ERP can supply production information, while homologation teams confirm approval references and technical values. Electronic COC helps organize the manufacturer-side preparation between these sources, review, signing and delivery. The connection scope depends on your systems and must be verified with representative records.

01

Define which system owns each value

Start with one vehicle family. Identify the source of the VIN, production status, type approval, variant, version and technical values. A value imported from ERP still needs an agreed owner and a rule for resolving conflicting information.

  • Map source fields to the required vehicle record.
  • Identify approval data maintained outside ERP.
  • Agree how missing or changed values reach the responsible team.
02

Choose a practical exchange method

An existing export may be sufficient for an initial scope. API automation should follow a stable data model and an agreed exchange with your IT team. Assess available access, update frequency and expected responses before choosing the connection method.

  • Review an anonymized export or interface description.
  • Separate incoming vehicle data from downstream submission.
  • Confirm access, responsibilities and operating conditions for each connection.
03

Example: an ERP export and a missing approval reference

Illustrative data, not a customer record: an ERP CSV export contains production record DEMO-001, its VIN, build status and variant, but no approval extension. The proposed mapping returns a missing approval-reference finding to the homologation data owner. The owner checks the approved source and supplies a corrected record; that version is reviewed again before XML preparation. This is a scoping example, not a documented API response or an available connector.

  • Source: an anonymised ERP production export, with approval data supplied by homologation.
  • Feedback: record DEMO-001, missing approval extension, responsible team: homologation.
  • Next action: correct the source, repeat the agreed checks and retain the reviewed version.
04

Keep checks between import and release

Importing a record is a preparation step. Missing data, an incorrect approval reference or a failed validation must remain visible before signing and delivery. Agree how your teams review exceptions and which corrected record is ready to proceed.

  • Review completeness and approval context.
  • Check the XML against the applicable receiving requirements.
  • Confirm signing and delivery readiness separately.
05

Prove the scope before extending it

Use a representative vehicle, an incomplete input, an interrupted exchange and a correction to assess the proposed workflow. Record the expected outcome and owner for each case. Extend to further vehicle families or automation only after the initial scope is verified.

  • State the vehicle family, expected volume and source systems.
  • Include repeat transfers and correction scenarios.
  • Agree acceptance criteria and responsibility for later changes.

Questions and answers

Do we need to replace our ERP?

The assessment starts with your existing systems. The agreed scope defines which data can be reused, which system remains authoritative and how updates are handled.

Does API integration guarantee NAP acceptance?

No. A working ERP connection does not establish signing, NAP access or acceptance. Those steps require their own applicable conditions and verification.

What should we bring to an integration discussion?

Bring your source-system names, an anonymized field sample, vehicle and approval context, expected volume and current bottleneck. Credentials or real customer data are not needed for the initial discussion.
